Life changing
Ever since I came across your podcast I have been listening, taking notes, rewinding, pausing and sharing with friends! After listening to about 3 episodes a day to catch up, I have made some minor adjustments with my teens and let me tell you! It has been life changing and brought about some much needed peace. I dat minor- because I’m tweaking and trying not to overwhelm myself and the kids.
Excellent!
Wish I had this resource when my boy was growing up. This podcast is thoughtprovoking and very well produced. Even though my boy is grown, I plan to use some of the points in the most recent episode as conversation starters. Thanks for helping the world raise healthy and happy kids!
Not lost anymore
Honestly I don’t know how I’d of managed the last few months without the discovery of this podcast My friends don’t have kids in the teens they are younger so I don’t have anyone to get help, feedback as they are yet to get to this stage I would of got through this stage but finding your podcast has helped me to understand the teens of today and how to talk to them, listen and engage And all this is setting me up to then help Mabel when she’s at this stage So thankyou so so much you honestly don’t know how much of a help it’s been xx
Thank You!
I continue to find your podcast really helpful. Thank you!
The Times UK - 20 best podcasts for parents (and kids) β€” chosen by our critic
Teenagers Untangled A 2024 winner at the Independent Podcast awards, this offers more than 100 episodes of relatable, non-judgmental insight. The lead presenter is Rachel Richards, journalist and parenting coach, who has two teenage girls and two stepdaughters. Episodes range from an interview with the social scientist Matilda Gosling, author of Teenagers: The Evidence Base, to tips on helping a shy child, avoiding nagging or discussing adolescent self-image with her own daughter, Phoebe. As a mother letting her post-GCSE son go to Reading this summer, I was grateful for a segment on festival tips, straight from the mouths of teenagers.
Loved this episode: Worries about skin care obsessions
I listened this morning on the way from school drop-off to my client's house. Will be listening with my tween, again, when she reutrns from camp. Understanding the why, thinking about wanting to fit in and also something they can control is very thought-provoking and eye-opening; something I hadn't considered. Love hearing your girls' perspective on things and the reminder to me to be non-judgemental. I'm so bad at it. Reminders on this are always great. Thank you. As always.
Everything to do with "being connected" helps at every stage
I really love your podcast and have recommended it at least 10 times to fellow parents. It has given me understanding, patience, tools, calmness. I feel much better equipped and my relationship with my kids is just deepening. I also dread the teenager years much less, even though I am already melancholic about them not needing me in the same way. Funnily, I have become an addict to the podcast even though my kids are not even 11 yet! But e.g. everything to do with "being connected" helps at every stage, and I wish I would have had that same knowledge and calm when they were even smaller. So thank you for all that wonderful research and input!
Finally, I've found someone who understands and talks sense.
Hi, I've just recently found you and just want to say thank you. We have chatted through messages and voice notes and what I learn in here for my boys will also help my 10 year old girl as she grows. So, thank you. Review left in episode 108: How to parent complex kids with ADHD or other differences.
Amazing
Incredible podcast
So many pearls of wisdom in this podcast
An essential listen for anyone living and working with teenagers. Thank you
Fantastic episode: 110: Motivation: How to motivate your teenager. An interview with eminent Psychologist David Yeager
I learned so much and feel better equipped in supporting my boys. I hope I'll find the time to read the book from the professor as it sounds fascinating. Thank you Rachel
Incredible! It works overseas too!
I am from Sao Paolo, Brazil, and I want to let you know that your podcast is helping me tremendously to deal with my teenage daughter. She used to be really sweet kid and has shifted to someone completely new. Thanks for helping me to get to know her all over again!!!!
You have managed to completely change my mindset.
I love listening to your podcasts on my way home from work. You have managed to completely change my mindset from dreading the teenage years ahead of me, to actually seeing them as something to embrace and enjoy. I no longer jump into defensive or protective mode every time a problem arises but take a step back and try to encourage my teens (13 year old girl and 15 year old boy) to solve their own problems. This has already completely transformed my relationship with them and ultimately is really having a positive impact on them and their maturity and transformation into becoming amazing adults. Thankyou so much 😊
Love the podcast
I am a GP in Australia and have been listening to your podcast for a few months now. I am finding it so helpful and enjoyable to listen to (I have two teens and one tween). As part of my work I speak to a lot of parents and see many teens and have recommended your podcast several times. I have also shared it on medical Facebook groups that I belong to. Thanks for creating such fabulous content!
Thank you for being there
I just wanted to say a massive thank you for being there for parents of teenagers every week. Not only do I look forward to each episode but also have listened to many of the shows more that a handful of few times. Navigating this period is extremely difficult, but extremely important and there is no one size fits all. Thank you for covering a wide range of topics, there is something for everyone. I work for a very large and established retailer and have shared the podcast with a parents of teens and tweens community. It is hard raising teenagers isn’t it, especially when we have working parents, relationship breakdowns, blended families, siblings, potentially elderly parents and family, economic pressures and life admin. Thank you for being there.
So relatable
Your topics are always relevant and/or relatable. I’m so grateful for your podcast πŸ™πŸΌ
Congratulations on your award
You are my go to every time I hit a hurdle or just want know a little more. Thank you.
Phoebe was amazing - really helpful.
Love that point about not changing to fit others' opinions and if people are putting pressure on you about your image they are not your people. So many great phrases too. (Rejection means redirection - from a previous podcast but I've already used that with my teenagers who loved it too) Thank you. You dropped in the boys bulking and cutting to create muscles etc. please can you talk more about that and the use of creatine.
Re Blog Post on parenting stress
Great advice and wouldn't it be wonderful if it would be read and taken on board by all. It's certainly given me food for thought.
Award response

I recommend this to all my mum friends and will continue to shout about how good it is! Keep going ladies, you're fabulous
I trust your advice
I've been listening to your audio hug for a while now and find you so helpful, reliable (every Wednesday you are there!) and I trust your advise. Go ladies, you so deserve to win.
So applicable to younger children.
Thank you for all your great work and advice and information. I don't have teens yet but I constantly share your things so I am ready. They're all so applicable to younger children.
I’m listening to each episode at least 3-4 times.
Woww. I'm actually taking notes and writing down stuff so I can remember to use them with my own son. The part where you apologize for giving them too much freedom when they obviously were not ready to hand it... that's brilliant! Apart from taking notes, I'm listening to each episode at least 3-4 times... just so they sink in. Thank you so much.
