Susie and I talked about the importance of manners, and the difference between them and etiquette, in the second part of episode 23.
I'm absolutely convinced that teaching our kids good manners gives them a head start in life. They learn to think about living in a society and the needs of others, which in turn helps to develop emotional intelligence. (we have an episode on that too.)
It also makes others think far more highly of our kids, which means they get treated better in return.
It's a win/win situation.
It doesn't take money, so it's one of the big differences we can make even if don't have the finances for other things.
I've put a few of my favourite manners on these slides and will put them in a blog, but I'd love to hear from you.
